The
Syracuse SkyChiefs improved to 3-2 on the spring season with a
4-3 victory over the Columbus Clippers Tuesday afternoon at the
Yankees Complex in Tampa, Florida.
The
SkyChiefs broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth inning when
Justin Singleton singled home Ron Acuna, who had led off the inning
with a walk.
Jason
Arnold shut the door on the Clippers with a hitless ninth inning,
earning his second save in as many games.
Acuna
was a part of every Syracuse run as he scored twice and drove
home two more runs. John Ford-Griffin had two hits, including
a double, and also scored twice, while Singleton had two hits,
including a double, and two RBI.
Francisco
Rosario started for Syracuse and gave up seven hits and two runs
in two and two thirds innings. Chad Gaudin struck out five Clippers
in two and a third innings of work and Matt Duff did not allow
a hit in two innings while striking out three. Steve Andrade allowed
one run in one inning but picked up the win for the SkyChiefs.
The
SkyChiefs (3-2) will travel to face the Durham Bullas at the Devil
Rays Complex in St. Petersburg, Florida at 1:00 PM Wednesday.
