March
15, 2005
The
Syracuse SkyChiefs were defeated by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Red Barons, 7-5, in their first Spring Training contest Tuesday
at the Phillies Complex in Clearwater, Florida.
While
the rest of the Phillies enjoyed an off-day, Jon Lieber got the
start for the Red Barons and allowed just one run on six hits
in five innings. Lieber struck out four SkyChiefs and did not
allow a walk.
Vito Chiaravalloti
and John Hattig each collected two hits, including a double, for
the SkyChiefs. Syracuse starter Seung Song allowed seven hits
and five earned runs and did not make it out of the second inning.
Syracuse will
play Toronto’s Double-Affiliate New Hampshire Wednesday at 11:00
AM at the Blue Jays Englebert Complex and then will travel to
Clearwater to face the Red Barons again on Thursday.
