Onondaga
County has reached an agreement with Alliance Bank, NA for the
naming rights of the county-
owned
stadium formerly known as P&C Stadium.
County
Executive Nicholas J. Pirro announced the agreement along with
Alliance Bank, NA President and Chief Executive Jack H. Webb at
a press conference Tuesday at the stadium.
P&C
had signed a 25-year contract for the stadium's naming rights
in 1996, but was released from the contract in September 2004
while reorganizing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. P&C was to pay
a total of $3.625 million dollars in annual installments of $145,000.
In
the 20-year agreement, Alliance Bank will pay the county $2.8
million for the exclusive naming rights to the stadium. The stadium
entry road will also be renamed "Alliance Bank Parkway."
Alliance
Bank was formed in 1999 by the merger of Oneida Valley Bancshares
Inc. and Cortland First Financial Corp. and is the only bank headquartered
in Syracuse. Alliance employs more than 300 people at its 20 branches
in Central New York. There are eight branches in Onondaga County,
with plans to build a ninth branch in Dewitt.
