The Syracuse SkyChiefs honored Bob Scalione and John Duffy with a pair of awards at the team’s 44th Annual Hot Stove Thursday night at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool.

Scalione received the Tom Higgins Bull Pen Chief Award given annually by the SkyChiefs to a community leader who has provided exemplary support for professional baseball in Syracuse. Scalione is a partner at Melvin and Melvin, PLCC. He is a long-time supporter of baseball in Central New York and his firm currently donates money to the Francis House for every home run or ground rule double hit by a SkyChiefs player that clears the Melvin and Melvin sign in right-centerfield.

Duffy received the Jake Meyers Great Guy Award given annually by the SkyChiefs to an individual who devotes a good deal of their time to further enhance Syracuse SkyChiefs baseball in Central New York. Duffy has been associated with the Community Owned Baseball team since 1973, managing the food service at both MacArthur Stadium and P&C Stadium. He has also served in many management roles with ARA Services, now known as ARAMARK, including six Olympic Games, the University of South Carolina Football Stadium, the University of Virginia football and basketball stadiums and on Rod Stewart’s 13 country European Tour in 1986. Although he retired as General Manager of Centerplate’s P&C Stadium operation before last season, he still works a full schedule at the ballpark in other capacities.
